Value Education:
Moral Education is given prime importance and is a part
of the learning process, designed to inculcate right values
and attitudes in the minds of the students. They are enabled
to analyse critically the value system of the world and
make responsible decisions for themselves in their life.
Scouting:
The students are encouraged to join Scouting which
is an international organization. St. Mary’s took
up Scouting in 1959, Sr. Benedicta being the Instructor.
It helps them to develop a sense of internationality. It
teaches them useful skills which makes them self-reliant.
Through various scout activities, they are taught discipline
and a sense of responsibility and leadership.
LTS (Leadership Training Service):
Since 1979, at the initiative of Sr. Margarita,
LTS was introduced which provides opportunities for the
interested students to develop their leadership qualities.
“For God and Country” is its motto. Spare and
share, each one teach one, a few minutes of personal prayer
every day are some of the targets which LTS tries to inculcate
in its members.
YCS (Young Christian Students’ Movement):
Christian students are given
an opportunity of being part of YCS, an international organization.
It took root in St. Mary’s in 2002. Self-improvement
and leadership programmes are conducted in their regular
meetings. The activities are based on the Spirituality,
“SEE, JUDGE, ACT”, making them aware of the
need of faith reflection and action. Orientations, Exposure
Programmes and Promise-taking are an essential part of YCS.
